Mini power stations light up lives
By Gamini Mahadura
The Southern Development Board has launched a power-generating scheme in the Southern Province by damming small streams and building mini hydro power stations, officials said.
They said about 25 such mini power stations were already in operation in the districts of Matara and Galle. The project so far has cost about Rs. 1.5 million and many residents in the area are themselves involved in it.
